Renfrewshire Boys and Youths
Fereneze hosted Renfrewshire Golf Union’s Boys and Youths Championship yesterday and we were delighted that it was 2 Fereneze members that triumphed in both events, Ashton McKechan taking the boys title and in form Stuart Dickson secured the Youth title. Stuart’s already had multiple RGU successes at boys level so it’s great to see him carry that into the Youths. Both players move to the match play phase of the event at Kilmacolm and Renfrew respectively.
This is the latest in a terrific spell Fereneze has had at securing County trophies and we hope that can continue this season. The next opportunity is this Wednesday at Renfrew Golf Club which hosts the Seniors.
Also on the Renfrewshire County front Roddy McAuley formed part of the 6 man team that opened up the defence of the Scottish Area Teams Championship with a victory over North East at Old Course Ranfurly on Sunday. Roddy, playing alongside former Fereneze member and current Fereneze junior champion Ethan Lang, secured a crucial half point in the morning foursomes to set up the teams singles success in the afternoon.
The RGU officials were very grateful to the clubs staff for the hospitality on the and complimentary about the course.
The Renfrewshire Golf Union website has full results for yesterdays events.
And at the younger end….
Both Macaulay boys took part in the Stephen Gallacher Foundation event at Hilton Park yesterday as well. Lucas winning the under 10s section and Evan coming 4th in the under 12s. We’re hosting a SGF event in August so there will be an opportunity to see the up and coming players of the future up close and personal at Fereneze where hopefully a few more of our own promising youngsters can get involved.
