The 2nd round of our Junior Gordon Murray event was curtailed to 12 holes today giving us a 30 hole event, the course was fine but many of our kids at the very young side of junior golf were just frozen so we showed some compassion. It proved to be a really close affair with 4 players all in with a shot at winning it with a few holes to spare, however Evan McGill, starting in 3rd place was able to hold his nerve and make a par net birdie at 12 for a 1 point win over Lucas Macaulay who had a Greg Norman style charge starting the day 5 points behind the 1st round leader, brother Evan. We’re delighted that we’ve played for all of the junior events this season for the first time in a long time and hope this group will be the nucleus of the growth of our junior section next year and beyond.
Well done to Evan McGill, Drew Lang, Callan, Aidan and Aaron McGuire and Evan and Lucas Macaulay for taking part over the weekend.
Special mention to Vice Captain Tommy Kelly who signs off his very successful era as Junior Convener at todays event and to the Macaulay parents and grandparents for braving the cold with the kids. Thanks also to member Andrew Buttar for the Titleist ball donation for each player and to professional Craig Haugh for the £50 pro shop voucher for the winner.
