Firstly can I just say Happy New Year, I wish you well in your on and off course adventures this year. As a committee we hope that you were pleased with what enhancements we made on and off course last year. We have more in store this year and some of the updates below link directly to some of those but just as a reminder here’s the headlines.
- Course – Additional member of staff, additional fairway mower and a new sand injection method.
- Clubhouse – Exterior painted & new outdoor seating area.
- Bar & Kitchen – Re-introduce bar cards, on course food and drink ordering, online function booking.
A few updates linked (and not) to the above.
This is now live on indeed. Feel free to share with anyone you think would be qualified and interested in the role. The closing date is next Friday 16th January.
We’ve partnered with Book My Functions, an online platform that provides members, guests and businesses with a live view of our lounge availability. No more forms, phone calls or email exchanges to see if we have your date free. Of course they’ll get the personal touch from Piotr and the team post booking and paying their deposit. Take a look….and book!
As promised we’ll soon move back to physical bar cards. The sync’ing between Scottish Golf’s system and our till provider EPOS Now was slow and inconsistent and a contributing factor in some speed of service issues. These have been ordered today and an update will be provided in due course on next steps.
I advised on this previously. We’re excited to be working with one of our members on some technology enhancements we hope will improve the member experience. With a small group of members we’re going to trial on course food and drink ordering so that your order can be ready for you coming off the course, either to sit in or take away. We’re starting small with a small group and a limited menu to take some learnings before we expand it to all members. All going well we’d like this to be in place for the season proper starting in April.
We’ve made good progress this year on reducing both of these this year. Forget another club championship victory, getting Lockers & Trollies off my golf “to do” list is my number 1 Fereneze goal this year. As previously mentioned we’ll undertake work in the area off the ladies locker room so trollies can be housed there. I’m confident that will clear the existing waiting list and then it’ll just be about how much additional capacity is in there.
Lockers, these are a nightmare and I know various people have had a go at sorting them. I’m hopeful with a recent key order and the willingness of a couple of committee members that we’ll soon be able to clear the locker room backlog, assuming most are happy with a metal locker and they don’t have a big cart bag.
If you want added to either list email secretary@ferenezegolfclub.co.uk
And finally, last time I looked there was a trolley in space 50 in the container shed. By my reckoning that should be empty so if you’re in there either get in touch to tell me why you’re in there or next time I’m up I’ll be removing it.
Just a gentle reminder that the funeral of our Honorary Vice President Duncan Ross takes place on Monday at 2pm at Hurlet Crematorium.
Thank you for those that supported the 100 Club last year. We were 2 short of the 100. We start all over again this year. If you wish to continue contributing and/or join you can do so by emailing me to advise and paying £60 to 80-05-54 00270689. If you want to do it incrementally you can also set up a standing order for £5 per month or any other way you want to get to £60!
As per above this additional generosity (and chance to win) just helps us with projects like the outside seating area and clubhouse paint job without delving into our day to day funds that cover running costs.
